From the pyramids to the Acropolis, how the ancient people built their structures has always fascinated Chee Kiat ever since he was a little boy. Following his passion, he naturally chose Civil Engineering and took up BCA’s scholarship for its bright prospects.
Chee Kiat has gone through a myriad of developmental opportunities since he started his career in BCA. This includes overseeing building regulations, attachment to a private firm (CPG Corporation) and a chance to work in China on the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City project during his secondment to the Ministry of National Development. He also pursued his Masters at Imperial College in London under the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship. His current portfolio involves getting the construction industry to adopt more of the latest technology.
His advice to prospective scholarship seekers is: “Do not be afraid to be different. If your interest is in building and construction, go for the relevant courses and pursue your dreams!”TAN CHEE KIAT
