Description

The Ministry of Home Affairs Uniformed Scholarship is offered to highly motivated individuals who are passionate about safeguarding the safety and security of our Home.

Depending on your interests and aspirations, this scholarship will allow you to kickstart your leadership journey as a uniformed officer in one of the five Home Team Departments, or as a Paramedic with the Singapore Civil Defence Force.*

Before you join us as a Guardian of our Home, you will receive the opportunity to pursue your undergraduate studies at a prestigious local or overseas university. Upon your return, you can look forward to learning and development opportunities to equip you as a future leader in the Home Team.

*The five Home Team Departments are: Singapore Police Force (SPF), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Singapore Prison Service (SPS) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

Course of Study

All Courses except Architecture, Dentistry, Medicine

Bond Period

4 years (local), 5 years (overseas in non-English-speaking country), 6 years (overseas in English-speaking country

Value of Awards

+Students reading Medicine, Dentistry and Architecture are not eligible. If you pursue a Law degree, you will not be called to the Bar while serving in the Home Team. If you are keen on a SCDF Paramedic service career, you will be required to read Para-medicine or related disciplines in Emergency Health or Clinical Practice (more information at: MHA Uniformed Scholarship (Paramedic)

Requirement/Conditions

• Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents intending to take up Singapore Citizenship
• Strong leadership qualities and potential
• Possess strong interest in safeguarding the safety and security of Singapore
• Good academic and Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) records
• GCE A-Levels, IB, Poly, NUS High School, or other high school diploma/certificate; current undergraduate students (not in final year of studies) may also apply. You may apply prior to receiving your final examination results. Should you be found suitable for a scholarship, you may be made a provisional scholarship offer that is subject to confirmation upon the release of your results.
• Perform well in National Service (for male applicants)
• Excel in Officer Cadet Course in MINDEF or MHA - for candidates aspiring for the Singapore Merit Scholarship Tier (SMS). For female candidates aspiring for the SMS Tier, you will have to submit your application earlier to have sufficient time to prepare for enlistment into Basic Military Training (BMT).

For Mid-Term Scholarships, the following criteria would additionally apply:
• Currently pursuing full-time undergraduate studies and on track for graduation with at least 2nd Upper Honours or equivalent
• Have completed at least one semester and not in the final year of undergraduate studies at point of application
